Samsonov spent time skating and working with goaltending coach Curtis Sanford a few days after suffering a knee injury.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe said Samsonov is feeling good but won’t be available to play and added that his injury is week-to-week at this point.
Samsonov left Saturday’s game after two periods against the Boston Bruins after hurting his knee during a penalty shot attempt. The team signed goaltender Keith Petruzzelli to an NHL deal in order to be the backup for Erik Kallgren, who came in for relief for Samsonov.
Matt Murray was also on the ice for the Maple Leafs’ morning skate. The 28-year-old was placed on long-term injured reserve back on Oct. 16 with an adductor injury. Keefe said Murray will take part in his first full practice on Wednesday.
