The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced the inauguration of two main bus stations for female university students in Sharjah, in both Al Madam and Al Bataeh areas, at a total cost of 4 million dirhams, as part of the authority’s endeavor to keep pace with the visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member The Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting the educational process of the people of the emirate, and advancing the educational and civilized society by harnessing the energies and capabilities that would establish an integrated educational environment, and overcome obstacles for students by securing a stable, high-quality university life.
She explained that the two stations came in response to the requirements and needs of the students of the University City in Sharjah, who live in the Madam and Al Bataeh areas, by inaugurating them with standard specifications and services that achieve luxury, through which the selection of a distinguished location at an equal distance from the residents of the two areas was taken into account, with the aim of achieving smooth transportation for female students to and from The university city in an appropriate collective way, ensuring timely arrival and achieving the principle of safety and security in transportation.
The authority explained that the two stations were implemented with a unique and practical design capable of meeting the needs of female students as a waiting point with integrated specifications, characterized by privacy, in addition to providing them with air conditioning and appropriate seating, and designed to accommodate the largest possible number of students, as it was equipped to operate with a capacity of 25 students per station. .
The project took into account ensuring smooth access to the two stations, by providing a set of service roads leading to the two waiting stations, with car parks and pedestrian paths, with a total of 19 car parks and two bus stops at each station.
